Piano Recital Info

Here's a few more details about the recital:
Date: Thursday, December 9th
Time: 7:00pm
Place: Oakside Baptist Church, 1921 Hamilton Road, LaGrange, Ga 30240 (right across from Troup high school), main auditorium
Dress: Something nice, no blue jeans!
Bring: 1-2 dozen cookies for the reception afterwards, cameras, video cameras, and all the friends and family you can think of!

Make sure you're practicing your songs at least 3 times a day. When you practice, imagine you're playing in front of an audience, and try to practice in front of as many people as you can between now and the recital.

It's beginning to look a lot like...a piano recital!

It's that time of year again when it's time to start thinking piano recital thoughts! Just a few details to mark on your calendars:

What: Christmas Piano Recital
When: December 9th, 2010
Where: Oakside Baptist Church
Time: 7:00pm

Over the next couple weeks start thinking of songs you would like to play for the recital. They can be old favorites that you've already learned this year or a new song that you've just started. Either way, as soon as you decide let me know so I can put you down for it. The first one who asks for a specific song gets it!

It's that time of year...

It's that time of year when the weather gets cooler, summer vacation is over, and more and more people are starting to think about piano lessons! A very special welcome to Hope, 9, Landen, 6, Leah, 8, and Kaylee, 8 who all started piano lessons this month! I'm looking forward to teaching you throughout the journey you've just begun.

Welcome, welcome, welcome!

I hope everyone has been enjoying their summer and getting plenty of time to play outside in the sun. When it gets too hot out, think of that as a good time to practice the piano. I want to take this opportunity to welcome Nicholas, 7, and John, 4 to piano lessons. They both started lessons in July and are off to a great beginning.

He's Here!

Riley Sawyer Reed finally arrived on May 3rd, 2010 at 2:21pm. He weighed 8lbs. 3 oz. and was 20 inches long. Thanks to all my students for being so understanding during the crazy week he was born, and to my mom for taking over and teaching for me. I hope everyone enjoys their summer vacation and I look forward to seeing you again the first week of July. If you have any changes to make or add to your summer schedule, let me know!

March Practice Contest

The first week of March we began our sping practice contest to see who could practice the most during the month of March. Currently, in the 9 and under division it's neck and neck between Caroline and Will for first place. Both of them have practiced over 4 hours so far this month. In the 10 and older division, it's still too close to call...so keep practicing everyone! Here are some tips to help with your practice time:
  1. Practice at the same time every day.
  2. Practice a little every day, even if you can only manage five-ten minutes.
  3. If you've finished practicing all your assigned songs before your practice time is over, go back and review old songs.
  4. Set a timer or a clock on the piano so you can see how long you're practicing.

Welcome to Piano!

I'd like to extend a welcome to Zion, age 7, who started taking lessons in February. I'm looking forward to teaching you!

January News

First off, I would like to congratulate the eleven students who played at our Christmas recital. You did an awesome job and I was very proud of you. It was also nice getting to meet so many of your family members over cookies afterwards. I'm already looking forward to next year!

I hope everyone had a good Christmas break and are enjoying the cold weather. Lessons began again the week of January 4th. Why not make a New Year's resolution of practicing an extra ten minutes a day this year? You'll be amazed at how much faster you'll progress.

I also want to say "Happy Birthday!" to James who turned 10 on December 25th, and send out get well soon wishes to Madison and Will. Hope you feel better for your lessons next week!
